• install starter motor
• install shift linkage
• install emergency brake hardware
• install kickdown linkage and hardware
• install driveshaft and hardware(prep'd garage and area around car for installation)
• install transmission hard lines
• install radiator & shroud
• install alternator bracket
• install oil dispstick tube
• install engine ground strap
• install transmission dipstick tube
• install cooling system hoses
• install mechanical water temp sensor
• install mechanical oil pressure sensor and electric oil pressure sensor

  
 Moved the car so that the driveshaft can be installed.  Had to re-arrange the equipement around the car to make it easier to work on the car.

Continued with installing hardware on the engine and transmission.   Could not find some hardware for the shift linkage, still looking for that.   Went ahead and installed the export brace and shock mounts.

25 Feb 2017 - Engine/transmission installation

Got off to a late start today, so I didnt get the engine installed until around 7 pm this evening.  I didn't pay attention to the setting the engine hoist was configured for, so I ended up mounting the engine/transmission to the engine hoist and then had to put the engine/transmission on a wood cradle so that I could configure the engine hoist properly.

After getting through that, the installation was pretty straight forward and quick.  Currently the engine/transmission is installed and motor mounts and transmisson mounts are bolted in place.  Now I can begine the process of final installation/assembly of the engine components/hard lines/radiator...etc.

22 February 2017 - Engine Installation

Started getting the engine/transmission ready for installation.  Re-arranged the garage to position the engine and transmission for assembly then installation into the Merc.

• Cleaned up the floor around the car and under the car
• setup the workbench with the motor mounts and hardware for installation onto the engine.
• setup the engine hoist and load leveler
• positioned the engine and transmission for assembly
• need to buy 5 quarts of oil and run that through the engine to pick up any residual water.

16 Feb 2017 - Engine installation Prep

I have the thermostat and housing installed onto the intake manifold.  Just making some last minute checks to install the engine/transmission this weekend.

Might need to run oil through the engine and pressurize and to make sure no more water is anywhere.

The oil filter I typically use is Fram PH8A, and sometimes I use WIX 51515XP.

Engine oil is 10W-30 Pennzoil

Transmission oil is Ford ATF - Mercon

11 February 2017 - engine

Didn't do much with the engine today.  I did install the electric water temp sensor and the brake booster manifold fitting.  Also the intake manifold has a vacuume port that is unused to I installed a plug.  I also installed the heater core fitting for the intake manifold.  I prepped the thermostat housing by installing the thermostat.  Tomorrow I will pick up a thermostat housing gasket and install it.

So not much done for today...

10 February - engine

The engine builder completed his checks on the cyldiner heads and intake manifold.  He tells me the intake gaskets may have been the problem.  He replaced the cylinder head to intake gaskets and only used silicone sealer on the end rails of the block/intake manifold.

I will begin the installation of the engine this weekend.
