27 October 2018 - headlight adjustments

The low beam headlights were not in proper adjustment and I did not know how bad that was until I had to drive at night.

So I spent a couple of hours disassembling the headlight assemblies to make adjustments. I discovered the the passenger side low beam had two faulty adjusters.  Apparently they had popped loose.  I had to completely replace the vertical and horizontal adjusters.  Its a bit time consuming but its done.

27 October 2018 - fuel system updates/upgrades

I installed the -6an female swivel to -6an male adapter and installed the fuel pressure gauge on the adapter.  This adapter does not leak.

With the pressure gauge installed and its now safe, I can see what the fuel pressure is with the current stock fuel pump.  At idle, pressure is about 3.5 to 5 psi.

adapter is -6an male to -6an female swivel with a 1/8 npt port for a fuel gauge.

23 October 2018 - fuel system upgrades/stuff

The replacement -6an adapter arrived today.  The fuel pressure gauge has been installed on the adapter and some time this week I will install these items to finally check on the fuel pump pressure.

The replacement adapter is from Hyperfuel Systems, PN:86607.

20 October 2018 - hood to firewall seal

I finally installed the hood to firewall seal.  Didnt take much, just pop in the plastic inserts into the rubber seal then install the seal into the mounting holes on the firewall, took about five minutes.  But its done...

20 October 2018 - ignition stuff

I replaced the cap and rotor(MSD kit 84315).  Pulled the plugs, cleaned and gapped to .050.  Previously the gap was .044.  So I'll run it this way and see how it goes.

19 October 2018 - fuel system updates/upgrades

The other day I received the -6an male to -6an female adapter fitting and the fuel pressure gauge.  Today I installed those parts.  The adapter leaked no matter how I positioned it.  I tightened it as much as I could(really have to be carefull with an fittings too easy to overtighten them).  I tried other -an6 fittings/hoses and that adapter always leaked.  It leaks at the female swivel fitting.  So I contacted Jegs explained the issues and they promptly processed an order to send me a replacement, but not from the same vendor.

Red arrows indicate where leak is at....basically all around that collar

For the short amount of time that the fuel pressure gauge was installed it indicated 4-5 psi but the needle was constantly bouncing.  I thought that it should be a steady reading on that gauge.

I did some research into that leak.  Turns out the o-ring could be damaged.  But that o-ring is not exactly user serviceable.  And its kinda hard to damage that o-ring in the first place.  So even tho a replacement is on the way I will see if I can repair that item.

16 October 2018 - Wiring extension and stuff

I test drove the car today.  It started and ran good.  No sudden shutdowns.  After the drive I checked on the wiring harness taping and coverings and they look good and did not show signs of unraveling.
