30 March 2019 - Driver side door - window crank assembly

 During the last couple of weeks the window has become more difficult to raise/lower. I ordered a replacement driver side window crank assembly.  I also ordered a few parts that may need to be replaced once I open up that door/panel.

17 March 2019 - License plate / fuel door

I am in the process of cleaning up/painting a used license plate/fuel door that I purchased online.  Yestereday I disassembled it and soaked the springs, mounting plates and nuts in Evapo-Rust.  I will soak the hardware a couple more days to take care of the rust.

About 12 hours of soaking in Evapo-Rust...looks good.

Well these are plastic but have signs of rust from the springs...working on removing that rust and grime

15 Mar 2019 - Corrosion Control

At the driver side, where the fuel line passes through the frame, there is a bit of rust in that area.  Wednesday and Thursday of this week I sprayed Krudd Kutter - the must for rust, throughout the areas.  By Friday, most of the rust had been converted.  Areas that were unreachable were then painted with Chassis Saver(two coats) and allowed to dry Friday evening and night.

If there area looks good Saturday, I will work on other areas of the car.

14 March 2019 - acquiring pieces/parts

Last couple of weeks I have been gathering parts/pieces for The Merc.  I purchased a couple of instrument clusters and will use those to make a good spare/replacement.  I also purchased a rear license plate door that I will be cleaning up and putting on the shelf for a rainy day.  Also I bought a set of interior door handles/window cranks, front and back seat.  I will see what I can do to clean them up or see about getting them rechromed.

Here are front and rear seat window cranks and door handles...the plan for these pieces is to clean them up and paint them a matte black and then install!

2 March 2019 - Fuel system - fuel filter

Well after taking apart the carb the other day, and finding stuff in it that I don't think should be there using one filter, I decided to try something.  Today I added a fuel filter to the inlet side of the fuel pressure regulator.  That inlet hose is 3/8" diameter rubber.  So I the filter I added is a plastic clear filter that requires hose clamps.  I have installed it and tested it and its working like it should.  I will keep an eye on that from now on.

2 March 2019 - headlight relay kit

I had the chance to finish installing/cleaning up the wiring of the headlight relay kit.  I put tubing around the wiring as much as possible to prevent damage to the wiring.  I also wrapped the tubing with Tessa tape to a little more protection.
