25 August 2020 - Defogger

Continued with cleaning up hardware/pieces parts.  The switch mounting bracket has been cleaned up and primered.  When that is cured, a top coat will be applied.  Still looking for a 3 position switchto replace the original.

23 August 2020 - Rear window defogger

 Cleaned up the unit.  It comes apart pretty easily.  The lower shroud is plastic and the upper motor shroud is some type of pot metal.  The ground and power wires from the motor are in very good shape.  The power wire is missing the connector.  The wiring harness that came with the unit has been cut up and is missing the resistor wire section and the other end of the connector to the motor unit.  The defogger switch assembly is in good shape, it does switch from off to on, on without issues and the contacts are clean.  The mounting bracket had rust, so I have stripped the paint and the part is soaking in Krudd Kutter rust remover/converter.

It looks like I will have to build a wiring harness for the defogger.  I will try to make it function so that there is a high speed and low speed.  I am looking into obtaining automotive resistor wire for applications like this wiring harness.

16 August 2020 - Overhead Console

 The plan is to install an overhead console.  I have a couple of overhead pieces.  One is painted black and is in fair shape, the other is painted sea foam green and is in good shape.  I still need to get the overhead console bracket that runs front to back and the front and back mounting brackets.

16 August 2020 - rear window defogger

 Some time ago, I purchased a very well used rear window defogger.  The plan is to install this unit and use it.  I have tested it already and it works surprisingly well for when it rains.  I disassembled the unit and cleaned up the pieces.  The wiring looks and feels good for 30+ years.

15 August 2020 - headlight door bracket

Finished removing as much rust as I could from the piece.  I used Krudd Kutter rust remover.  After doing that I wiped down the part and painted it with a rust converter from Eastwood.  I painted 4 light coats to cover as much as possible then hung it up to dry overnight.

9 August 2020 - Electrical wiring/harness upgrades/updates

Potential wiring updates/upgrades;
  • deutsch connectors - seems to be a larger variety of connectors, dunno if the connectors are weather resistant
  • weatherpack - as of yet havent found 8 pin connectors, so variety seems to be a problem, connectors are weather resistant
  • delphi connectors - could be a derivative of the weatherpack, variety is also an issue
