26 December 2017 - Rear seat side panels

Both rear seat side panels have been painted.  They will be installed shortly.

While those panels were removed, I noticed that the floor and side areas of the back seat area need to be painted/rust removed.

I ordered two spray cans of Eastwoods rust encapsulator.  I will be spraying areas that have signs of rust.

16 December 2017 - Rear seat side panels

I have been considering changing the color of the interior from the off white/saddle color to a matte black, satin black or semi gloss black.

I settled on a flat black color.  I am using the Dupli-Color, Vinyl and Fabric paint, HVP106 FLAT BLACK.

The temperature today was in the high 60's, low 70's so I painted the driver side rear seat panel.

If the temps are good tomorrow I will paint the passenger side.

3 December 2017 - Corrosion Control - Inner Roof

For now it looks like the chassis saver is everywhere I need it.  I will need to do some touch up painting around the rear  side panels, as well as the overhead inner roof support.

The seats have been re-installed.  I will let this coat of chassis saver cure for a few days(weather permitting) and do the touch up work,

2 December - Front Bench Seat

In order for me to paint the inner roof and fore/after pillars, I removed the front and rear seats.  While removing the front bench seat, the passenger side track literally fell apart.

The track uses two pieces of metal that have ball bearings and rollers.  One end of the seat tracks roller and ball bearings fell out of the track.  After gathering up the parts, I attempted to put the assembly back together.  From what I've discovered it looks like this seat track has had this problem for awhile.  I had noticed that the passenger side doesn't always slide/move properly.

While looking at the parts of the seat track, one of two ball bearings was missing.  Which could explain why that track was difficult to move sometimes.

So I didnt have a 1/4" ball bearing handy but I did have one that close to that size.  So I removed that remaining bearing and put two of the same kind in the metal clip slider with the roller.  I greased everything and re-assembled.  I have not tested it yet, since it needs to be in the car and that will probably be tomorrow after the chassis saver dries.

2 December 2017 - Corrosion Control - Inner Roof

Today I was able to paint a coat of chassis saver on the inside of the roof.  I painted as much as I could and also painted the pillars fore and aft.  Once all of that dries, I'll see if another coat is needed.

28 November 2017 - general stuff

Over the years I have collected a number of fasteners/bolts/nuts for the fenders and front grille assemblies.

I have been soaking that hardware in evapo-rust and or Krudd Kutter, so that the parts are rust free.

Currently I am in the process of seperating the hardware into storage bins.

I have a storage box that has alot of other bolts/fasteners/hardware that needs to be sorted/bagged

The plan is to store the hardware from the fenders and front grille assemblies into these bins.

I still need to remove the chrome grille from this headlight door

These chrome pieces are in fair shape.  The "chrome" coating is gone but the pieces themselves are in great shape.

This is a vacuum solenoid used on 67 cougars.  It works just fine, but will not be needed as I am removing all of the vacuum components to install an electric motor system.

These are the headlight harness removed from the front grille assemblies I recently purchased

27 November 2017 - reconditioning bolts/fasteners

Continued with cleaning up, and phoshate coating various bolts and fasteners that are used on the front grill assemblies of the 67 cougar.

It will take a week or so to soak the parts to remove rust and a few days after that to phosphate coat the parts.

26 November 2017 - misc parts/pieces clean up

I was able to finish painting the headlight door mounting bracket.

I also found more fasteners, bolts and hardware that needed to be cleaned up.  I put those parts in a glass container with Evapo-Rust to soak.

24 November 2017 - purchased rear tail light housings - left and right

Today the rear tail light housings arrived.  They are in very good shape!  They look as good as the set installed on the car.

They don't need very much work, just need to replace the seals/gaskets and they can be installed.

23 November 2017 - clean/prep/paint of misc parts/pieces

I had the chance today to paint three headlight adjuster rings.  I have a headlight door mounting bracket that is still soaking.  I am hoping I can paint that today.

21 November 2017 - Exhaust system - H pipe

I am considering adding an H pipe to the exhaust system.  I need to measure the diameter of the pipes then check on Summit or Jegs for a kit that I can install.

If the pipes are 2.25 then this kit can be used from Summit

21 November 2017 - purchased grille assemblies

The screws, fasteners and mounting hardware that are used on the driver and passenger side front grille assemblies are soaking in Krudd Kutter - The Must for Rust.  That product does an excellent job of removing rust from the pieces/parts.

I am still soaking the headlight mounting bracket and three headlight adjuster rings in Evapo-Rust.  As soon as its warm enough to paint I will do that to these pieces.

20 November 2017 - purchased front grille stuff

After looking through the grille pieces, I have a complete set of chrome grilles that are in great shape.  The pot metal pieces are in fair shape.  So I seperated the chrome pieces.  I will check the other front grille pieces that I have and see which of the pot metal assemblies is in good enough shape to use on the car.

19 November 2017 - purchased front grille pieces/parts

I was looking over the headlight door chrome work and it is very good shape.  There is very little pitting, the chrome is still shiny and the sides of the grille pieces still have the argent paint.

I decided to remove the chrome grille pieces from the driver and passenger side headlight doors.  Its pretty easy, took about 30 minutes of careful grinding to seperate the chrome pieces from the doors.

18 November 2017 - Holley Carb info - Vacuume secondary spring quick change kit

Heres a pic that shows spring order...

18 November 2017 - purchased front grille pieces/parts

I was able to clean up the front grilles.  They were covered in oil/dirt and such.  So after about an hour or so the three grilles are now clean enough to store.

I am still working on cleaning up the headlight door mounting brackets - driver and passenger side.  They still need to soak in the evapo-rust.  I did find a headlight adjuster ring that needed cleaning and corrosion control.  That part is also soaking in the evapo-rust container.

Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to paint these remaining parts.

I found a couple more headlight adjuster rings.  I sprayed them with paint stripper and removed most of the paint.  I added those to the evapo-rust container to soak.

16 November 2017 - Holley quick change secondary spring kit

I was unsure of the installed spring for the secondaries.  I checked and found that the plain spring was installed.  Recommendations are that the black spring is a starting point and that, after all successful modifications(accelerator pump cam) change the spring.  Then drive and test when the secondarys kick in.  So I have removed the plain spring and installed the brown spring which is the next step up from the black spring.  I will drive and monitor the changes.

16 November 2017 - Quick inventory of front and rear grille assemblies/pieces/parts

I have photographed the parts that I have been accumulating to create complete front and rear grille assemblies.  Currently I have enough parts to put together a complete front, left and right grilles.

16 November 2017 - purchased grille assemblies

I was able to prep and paint the four headlight adjusting rings today.  I painted the hardware with Rustoleum Rust Reformer, just to get the parts covered until I can do a proper reconditioning of the parts.  The headlight door mounting bracket still needed to be soaked in the Evap-Rust.  I also put the other headlight door mounting bracket in the Evapo-Rust bucket.

14 November 2017 - corrosion control - purchased front grille pieces

As of today, 14 November, the headlight adjuster rings for driver and passenger sides are completely rust free and paint free.  The passenger side headlight door mounting bracket is almost completely rust free and most of the paint has been removed as well.  The driver side headlight door mounting bracket still needs to be soaked in Evapo-Rust and paint stripper, but it is in the photos for a comparison to show before and after.

12 November 2017 - corrosion control - purchased front grille pieces

After letting the driver and passenger side headlight adjuster rings, passenger side headlight door mounting bracket soak for a few more hours, I cleaned up the pieces to check the progress.  The rust is being dealt with very well, but areas that have paint, not so well.  So I used an aerosol can of paint remover, for about forty five minutes and most of the paint has been removed from the parts.  The parts are now soaking in Evapo-rust.  I will check on them in about 6 hours.

As soon as those parts are clean enough I will prep and paint the parts with Rustoleum Rust Reformer.  And put them aside until the spring when the weather is warmer and painting will be better.

Its 8:30pm and the parts are looking much better than they did three days ago.

Most of the paint has dissolved and the rust us almost completely removed from all pieces.  I will let the parts soak overnight.

11 November 2017 - working on recently purchased front grille assemblies

I bought a canister of paint stripper.  I will put that on the parts that still have paint then clean those parts then re-soak in the Evapo-Rust.  I am cleaning the parts as thouroughly as possible before priming and painting.

I am considering completly dismanteling the front grilles.  What that means is removing the chrome grilles from the grille pieces.  That will make it alot easier to clean/strip the pieces and paint.

11 November 2017 - purchased front grille driver side

Here are images of the driver side grille before and during disassembly and before soaking in Evapo-Rust,
