30 June 2018 - Driver side rear window crank handle

A few days I ago I noticed that the rear driver side crank window was missing a piece of hardware.  I dont know when the piece fell off or was knocked off.  The back seat is almost never and I cant remember knocking/hitting the window crank hard enough to damage it.  So I am working on a repair for this piece.

30 June 2018 - Door Handles

I found a pretty good deal online for driver & passenger side door handles and hardware.  First chance I get I will install the hardware.

30 June 2018 - Rear Suspension Prep - Cont'd

I started ordering replacement parts for the rear suspension.  I will continue to order just a couple or so components per purchase due to the high cost of ordering all parts at once.

First order:
  • front spring bolt w/nut for each spring(total of two sets)
  • spring pads for each spring(4 pcs)
  • rear spring poly inserts with eyelets for each spring(2 pcs)

20 June 2018 - 351W cylinder heads

So I thought I picked up a set of 351W heads when in fact they are '78 302 heads, live and learn.

After buying this set I bought another set of 302 heads that I knew were 302.  Looks like I can interchange some of the valve train components.

I am still looking at putting together a 351W for The Merc.

12 June 2018 - front suspension mods - Klaus Arning/Shelby uppper control arm mod

I have been considering doing the Arning/Shelby upper control arm relocation mod.  I recently purchased a kit that will allow me to do the modification on my 67 Cougar.  So Once I do that mod I have to make sure that local auto shops can do a proper front end alignment for this type of front end geometry mod or I learn how to do the correct front end alignment.

Here is an excellent link dealing with the Arning/Shelby UCA mod

10 June 2018 - Edelbrock Valve Covers - Cont'd

I went ahead and installed the passenger side valve cover.  I somehow lost track of the 5 allen head faux fasteners I prepped for install.  So I made a few more so that I now have the 5 needed.

10 June 2018 - Edelbrock Valve Covers - Cont'd

I installed the driver side valve cover.  It replaced a Moroso chrome valve cover that I installed in 2002/2003.  The hex bolts I used are 3/4" long, 1/4"-20 threads.  Lowes carries that size, so I bought enough for both valve covers.  The middle top fastener for the valve cover is apparently a long( ~3") bolt that passes through the inside of the valve cover(there is a channel for it).  After installation I run tested and so far no leaks.

Right now only the driver side edelbrock valve cover is installed.  Hoping to get the passenger side installed this week.

Old Moroso cover, its still very functional..
