I decided to re-route the heat/defrost/fresh air cables. The defrost cable was at the wrong angle so I removed the three cable assembly and re-routed them.
While I was checking out the interior side of the mounting location of the heater box assembly, I noticed that I did not clean up that area. I have since, sanded and painted the area and also the engine side. That will take at least until tomorrow to dry to a point to allow installation of the heater box assembly.
